The artwork here is very appropriate as her album is called lungs so as you can see from the front and the back there is lungs on show. It's clever how the back points to parts of the lungs for song numbers and it sort of symbolizes that the songs come from inside you in your lungs.
The mise en scene is good, i like how she is surrounded by nature with tree's and plants. It's also good because in most of her videos there is some natural aspect to them like the original dog days video.
It's a simple lay out. artist on front with her being center, the band name above her which seems to be like a child writing. the back is more complex as the lungs are hallow and with arrows point to certain sections. the CD appears to be hands hold onto something, and on the inside a picture of Florence preforming. The album artwork doesn't scream buy me, it doesn't seem to match her genre, i need to be a bit more bright
I like the idea of a running theme, so for us have a bird theme or something, or make out own interpretation of a nature scene. I don't like the idea of a child's font, i think a more suitable font would be needed. I like the idea of having the artist preforming a gig on the inside. We will try to create a different style but try and copy some aspects of Florence and the machine like how she moves in her video's and make up.
Her juxtaposition is always centre usually surrounded by dancer, all the extras match in costume except for herself with a different costume to help her stand out. Her image is present in three ways; her ginger hair, her fairy tale/unusual type costume and her unique make up, this makes her very recognisable. She’s only ever had one magazine photo-shoot, but many of her songs have been feature in films such as the Twilight Saga and covered by the Glee cast.
Florence And The Machines first video was Rabbit Heart released in 2008. One element that is used in all her video’s is her prominent ginger hair, the use of bright colours a lot of silver/gold and glitter. Her genre is alternative pop because of the good beat to her songs but also the orchestra type feel to her music. I wouldn’t say there any may other artists in her genre but a similar artist who is known for style in her videos would be Lady GaGa. She hasn’t changed much over time, she’s only had one album so she’s not really had time to develop as an icon or to change what her genre or style is. The only thing to have changed over time is the quality of the video as new technologies are being developed and more money will be supplied for the creation of videos.
This is our step out line, which gives us a general outline for the music video. this will help us produce our shot list. we have also added a small introduction so people will understand the narrative of our story.
For this we had to watch six student music videos and describe the good and bad points about them and also what type of music video it was; i.e performance, narrative or conceptual.
This is a sheet that we had to complete so we know our artists look and genre inside out. We also had to think how we intend to sell our video and and have it appeal to the target audience. It also shows how we will create out artist image in our video.

Image and Genre
One of the first Florence and the machine Videos is Dog days the 2008 original. In this video and many others you can see that she uses alot of gliter, floaty dresses, weird costumes and party scenes. Florence and the machine have been described as experimental but mostly have the genre of modern indie pop. Compared with other artists in this genre like; Maina and the diamonds, Kate Nash, One Night Only, Panic at the Disco, The Noisettes and Noah and the Whale, Florence and the Machine is differnt as she uses an Orchestra which gives it a more fantasy feel to it. What all of these artists and bands have in common which makes Florence and the Machine a like is their quirkyness.

Florence and the machine has changed over time with her look and her music. From the start her songs were more rocky than indie but as times gone on she now fits into the indies pop genre more. She also elongates her notes to make her songs flow together.
Generic Conventions present in her videos are; inique costumes of some sort, glitter and sequins, unusual storylines and bright lightts or some kind of colour editing.
Film style of the videos have changed over time but this is due, like many aristists videos, to getting more popular and having the money to make them look better and more realistic. An example of this is the song 'Dog Days are over', when the band first came out they had a low budget video that was made in 2008 which they then re-shot it in 2010. Visual Style and Image
Typical visual elements is; a range of different costumes but hers alwyas different to the dancers, this making her stand out in the crowd of dancers, lots of effects like; lighting, fire, smoke, glitter smoke, mirror effect and cross over of images. This keeps the adience interested and their attention. Her make up is also unusual and different for every music video she does, this making her look unique and for that video only.

Florence also wears many different dresses but all long and floaty in some way. She also likes the use of vintage aspects to her wardrobe which again makes each costume unique to her.
Florence and the machines songs have been used in many TV shows such as Glee and Films such as Twilight Saga and Slimdog Millionaire. These shows and films are some are the most popular media around today.
Synergy and Marketing
In the past Florence Welch has done photoshoots but manly just for her CD and albumn covers. She keeps up her image by re inventing her self but still keeping the main components of her style. She still follows popular fashion trends but puts her own spin on things, this maintains her image. She also uses the same style in her music video as she does in her meerchandise as many opf the photos are from her videos and photoshoots for the videos to help promote herself.
